Chora

The work is an architectural sculpture, a very small version of an amphitheatre, with an empty space at its center. It forms a compressed village square, a dense place of communication and contemplation, as a space for possibility and discussion.

Chora serves as a resonator for dialog with important questions about the city. How do we want to live together? How do we break up the isolation of our living spaces? How does participation arise in a city? What social processes lead to the forms of space and housing in which we live? Like the "Chora" of ancient philosophy, our amphitheater embraces the indeterminate and the in-between.

The form of the sculpture is intended to serve as a place for lecturing, listening, sending and receiving, creates a contradictory tension between openness and determinacy.
